Tinggoro Tidong, Indonesian Cultural Tradition Origin from the Toraja Tribe

Indonesia has a variety of very interesting cultural traditions. One of the Indonesian cultural traditions is Tinggoro Tedong. Tinggoro Tedong is an Indonesian cultural tradition from the Toraja tribe originating from the island of Sulawesi. This tradition is part of a series of typical Toraja death ceremonies (Rambu Solo ‘), namely the procession of slaughtering a buffalo which is carried out by slashing the neck of the buffalo with one slash.

According to the beliefs of the ancestors of the Toraja people or what is called Aluk Todolo, the buffalo is a riding animal for the corpse to take its journey to the puya or the afterlife. Although classified as sadistic, the Ma’tinggoro Tedong Tradition is able to attract local and foreign tourists.
