The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said 912 residents were evacuated and three people were still in search regarding the fire incident at the Balongan oil refinery, Indramayu.
“912 people were evacuated after the Oil Refinery owned by PT. Pertamina in Balongan Village, Balongan District, Indramayu Regency,” said Raditya Jati, Head of Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center BNPB, in his written statement, Monday (29/3).
In details, 220 people were evacuated to the GOR of the Pertamina Bumi Patra Complex, 300 residents in the Pendopo of the Indramayu Regent’s Office, and 392 people in the Indramayu Islamic Center Building.
“Meanwhile, data on casualties that have been collected up to 08.00 WIB are 5 seriously injured, 15 lightly injured and 3 people still in search,” continued Raditya.
According to him, based on reports from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Indramayu District’s Rapid Reaction Team (TRC), the burning of three units of premium product 42 T 301 A / B / C tanks had an impact on five villages, namely Balongan Village, Sukareja Village, Village Rawadalem, Sukaurip Village and Tegalurung Village. The BPBD of Indramayu Regency, continued Raditya, has set up a Fire Handling Task Force tent and provided logistical assistance.
In order to accelerate the handling of these fires, the Indramayu District BPBD also coordinates with the local TNI / Polri and Basarnas to evacuate local residents and workers. Until now, TRC BPBD Indramayu Regency is still collecting data on the burning location of the oil refinery.
Until now, said Raditya, the fire was still in the process of being extinguished and residents were expected not to panic and always follow the directions of the authorities to prevent unwanted things from happening.
